The short version: the figures you type into the calculator never leave your device. Advertising on this site uses cookies only if you agree.
Who we are
This website is run by The Kept Pound, who is responsible for your information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). You can contact us at [email protected].
The figures you enter
- Calculated in your browser. Your salary, pension, student loan and other details are processed on your own device and are never sent to us.
- Remembered on your device. So you don't have to type them again, the calculator saves your inputs in your browser's local storage. Only you can see them, and the Reset button clears them. This is needed to provide the feature you're using, so it doesn't need consent.
- Share links. If you use Copy link, your figures are written into the link itself. Anyone you send it to can see them, so only share it with people you trust.
- Downloads. PDF and spreadsheet files are created on your device and saved straight to it.
Services that help run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and protects it from attacks. Like any web host, it handles technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser connects to Google to download them. See Google's privacy policy.
- cdnjs, run by Cloudflare, supplies the tool that creates PDF downloads. It loads only when you click Download PDF.
Advertising and cookies
The Kept Pound is free because it shows adverts from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure how they perform, and, if you agree, personalise them based on your interests.
- When you first visit, a consent message asks whether you agree to these cookies. You can accept, reject, or choose specific purposes.
- If you don't agree, you may still see ads, but they won't be personalised. Google may still use some technologies needed to show ads and to prevent fraud.
- You can change your choice at any time using the Privacy and cookie settings link that appears on the page, or by clearing cookies for this site in your browser.

We use consent as the lawful basis for advertising cookies. For hosting and security, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of information held about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also object to how it is used, or withdraw your consent. We don't hold any personal information from the calculator itself. If you're unhappy with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
