Worth knowing
- £12.71 is the National Living Wage for workers aged 21 and over in 2026/27. Employers must pay at least this, and salary sacrifice can't take you below it. Younger workers and apprentices have lower minimum rates.
- Overtime is taxed in the same way as normal pay. In a month with a lot of overtime, more tax and National Insurance come off that payslip, because payroll works them out each pay period.
- In Scotland the same hours take home £1,783.68 a month, which is £3.31 more than in the rest of the UK.
